Northey Gravel Bridge

North Gravel Bridge project consisted of the manufacture of six TY4 interior beams and two TYE4 edge beams. The beams were 11m long and had a maximum weight of 8.5T. It was also required to cast a 600mm high reinforced concrete upstand on the edge beams and this was carried out in the factory. The weight of the combined edge beam with upstand was 15.5T. Shay Murtagh also cast anchor cages into the concrete upstands to enable site fixing of steel parapets.
