Cheethamill Construction Ltd – SAICA Storage Tanks
Spanish Company SAICA are constructing a new container board manufacturing facility on the East side of Partington Village in Manchester UK. This is very large industrial project that has upwards of 500 people working on site. The principal project managers are Christal Management UK and Engineering Consultants for the clients are Spanish company IDOM.
In October 2010 Shay Murtagh were appointed by specialist civil works contractor ‘Cheethamhill Construction Ltd’ to manufacture and construct a large precast, pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete settlement tank for the on- site waste water treatment plant. This tank has an internal diameter of 35.72m and a wall height of 5.05m and was successfully installed on site in February of 2011. The storage tank with a gross capacity of 5,000m³ also included a peripheral launder that was integrally cast with the precast concrete wall panels.
Shay Murtagh also received an order for the manufacture and construction of a ‘Fresh Water Process Storage Tank’ on the same site. This precast, pre-stressed and post-tensioned water storage tank has a gross capacity of 4,000m³ and has an internal diameter of 26.53m and a wall height of 7.30m and will be complete with a precast concrete roof structure. Completion of project was in May 2011.
