Winner of the Irish Concrete Society International Award

We’re celebrating winning the Irish Concrete Society International Award

On Saturday the 9th April 2016 Shay Murtagh Precast was proud to be announced the winner of the 4th annual Irish Concrete Society International Award for our work on the CROSSRAIL C310 Thames Tunnel. This prestigious accolade, sponsored by Enterprise Ireland, recognizes Irish companies who export products or services out of Ireland. The jury included Prof. Owen Lewis, Robert Geraghty, Enterprise Ireland and Finbarr Quigley, ESBI.

Here’s what they had to say:

“To construct two complex tunnels with a total length of about 5.5km, almost 30,000 high quality precast concrete tunnel segments were delivered from Ireland to a site in East London. The judges were impressed with the scale and complex logistics of this prestigious project, with pre-construction full scale verification testing, export of a total of 38,000m3 concrete in over 3,500 articulated loads, and featuring demanding quality control management and with an important research collaboration.”

We are honoured to receive this award and would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved in the project, our client HOCHTIEF Murphy Joint Venture (HMJV), our supply chain partners and of course the great Shay Murtagh team.
