International Women’s Day, Thursday 8th March 2018

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Thursday 8th March 2018,  we at Shay Murtagh Precast would like to highlight some of our great team.

For International Women’s Day, we would like to introduce you to three wonderful women as they explain the roles they hold in Shay Murtagh Group.

Dedicated professional and qualified people are the cornerstone to our Company.  We encourage women to consider a career in the construction industry.  There are plentiful rewarding and challenging positions that both men and women can equally fill, develop and advance.

Meet Caroline Coyne,

Caroline is Transport Co-ordinator for Shay Murtagh Group.  She joined the company in 2007 and her role has grown and developed through the years. Her role in the Transport Department requires precision and organisation ensuring efficient tracking of multiple routes and drivers to deliver our products on time. She works with Dave, our Transport Manager, Vidmantas, our Dispatch Supervisor and the individual project managers and fleet of logistics crew.

“My role includes daily scheduling, customer co-ordination and optimising our transportation system to make it cost-effective while fulfilling our client’s requirements. I have a CPC in Transport Management and have handled some of the most challenging logistical projects including the delivery of 250 no 40m precast concrete beams to the Mersey Gateway Project.”

Meet Daniela Pereira,

Daniela is a Civil Engineer who joined the Shay Murtagh team in 2016. She is a key team influencer in the design of precast concrete structures, new atypical solutions and production improvements in close collaboration with the design team members. Daniela works with team leaders Robert Fitzsimons and Jose Terra on a range of projects involving post-tensioned structures.

“I knew I wanted to become a civil engineer at a young age. I lived my childhood in a prefabricated house, for myself I needed to find out how that was done! It is kind of ironic that I am actually working on the precast business. Working at Shay Murtagh has been most empowering for the beginning of my career. I have grown by working on many types of projects but what motivates me the most is my highly skilled colleagues, they motivate me to push myself harder, the fact is that I get to learn something new every day. One word to describe what is good about working at Shay Murtagh, that would be diversity. Diversity in the projects, diversity of people and locations, every day is different.“

Meet Natalie Whitmore,

Natalie a Production Planner in Evans Concrete Products, part of the Shay Murtagh Group. Natalie plays a key role that knits the Shay Murtagh Group together.

“I joined Evans Concrete Products in November 2015. Having been with my previous company for 12 years I worked in various different roles – production administration, customer services, purchasing and planning which has served me well in my current role as Production Planner at Evans. Once we are awarded a new contract, I start the production planning process, working closely with the design department in order to start the moulds and timetable schedule. Together we assemble a casting programme to meet the requirements of the Client. My role has changed and grown since Shay Murtagh bought Evans in 2016. I get involved in new contracts at a much earlier stage and work more closely with our production team, making sure we meet the targets set and managing the workload. I am excited for the future within Shay Murtagh to see my role grow as our workload and product mix evolves.”
