Shay Murtagh
– Chairman

Shay Murtagh is Chairman of Shay Murtagh Precast and has over forty years experience in precast concrete manufacture and installation. He has led the company through many changes in product, manufacture process and delivery. He believes in setting high standards and being the leader in our specialist sector. Shay is an expert in precast, pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete tank manufacture and installation and works closely with all our production and installation crews to continuously evolve and bring effortless customer service and performance to all our projects.

Ciaran Murtagh
– Managing Director

Ciaran is Managing Director of Shay Murtagh Precast. He has over 20 years experience in the Civil Engineering industry and has been involved in the design, manufacture and installation of many of Shay Murtagh’s contracts. Ciaran is highly involved in the research and innovation of new products and manufacturing techniques within the company and has personally researched and developed the Septec Wastewater Treatment System and Rainman Rainwater Harvesting System from their inception. Ciaran is a graduate of Civil Engineering of Dublin Institute of Technology Bolton St. and Sligo Institute of Technology.

Liam McGovern
– Contracts Director

Liam is Contracts Director of Shay Murtagh Precast and has worked with the company for twenty five years. Over this period he has seen the company grow from less than 10, to over 180 employees. Liam is a graduate of Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street and has over 30 years experience in the Civil Engineering Industry. Liam’s specialism lies in his attention to detail and unparalleled problem solving capabilities, and these skills have been instrumental in the design and construction of many commercial and infrastructure projects throughout Ireland and the UK.

Gillian Murtagh
– Marketing Director

Gillian is the Marketing Director for Shay Murtagh Precast Having previously worked in Travel & Tourism and Media she returned to the company in 1999 to brand and market new domestic products. This brand campaign along with natural sales and belief in products saw these products becoming household names. She has since taken the position of Marketing Director and evolved the marketing strategy to online and social media governance creating international recognition and sales. Working in conjunction with all divisions of the company she challenges industry norms in marketing.

Robert Fitzsimons
– Production Design Manager

Robert currently heads up production design within the company. Throughout his studies, Robert worked within Shay Murtagh’s and he returned to the company just over five years ago. Robert graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street with his Diploma in Civil Engineering, and went on and completed his bachelor’s degree in Heriott Watt University Edinburgh in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Robert has since worked in England, Scotland and Ireland gaining over a decade of experience on numerous large civil engineering projects; including gas, infrastructure, water and waste water.

Fergal O’ Neill
– Production Supervisor

Fergal is a Production Supervisor with Shay Murtagh Precast and has worked in the construction industry for over thirteen years. He graduated from Waterford Institute of Technology with a degree in Construction Management and also completed a post-graduate diploma in Project Management in Trinity College Dublin. He has worked on numerous major civil engineering and construction projects in Ireland, Australia and the United Arab Emirates. He works closely with the Production Team on our large scale projects.

Gerard Glennon
– Production Supervisor

Ger is a Production Supervisor within the Production Team in Shay Murtagh Precast Having graduated from Limerick institute of Technology in 2002 with a BSc in Building Management he has spent the last ten years working all over the world bringing to him a wealth of knowledge and skill. He has experience with projects in Ireland, UK, Australia and Pakistan in commercial, infrastructure and drainage works. His on site management skills recognises new techniques for project successful completion and is working closely with his team to fulfill each brief with production cost effective and quality solutions.

John Quinn
– Production Supervisor

John is a Production Supervisor with Shay Murtagh Precast and has worked with the company since 2008. He is a key figure in the production process and manages teams from mould fabrication through to manufacture. He graduated from Limerick Institute of Technology in 2003 and has worked on civil, commercial and pharmaceutical projects as site engineer. While he manages the production of a wide range of products and projects in Shay Murtagh Precast his site experience means he appreciates what the Client requires and has a high quality stance on all units.

Technical Design

Steve Lowe
– Senior Design Engineer

Steve is Senior Design Engineer with Shay Murtagh Precast and is the head of our design team. Steve graduated with a B.S in Civil from Texas A&M University and completed his education at the University of Cambridge where he achieved a Master of Philosophy in Bridge Engineering. He has over seventeen years of industry experience, gained with a number of Ireland’s most prestigious engineering practices before coming joining the Shay Murtagh Team. Steve’s vast experience and expertise within the many tiers of civil engineering design is vital in ensuring that all our products are designed to the most exacting standards

Jim Leavy
– Senior Structural Engineer

Jim is a Senior Structural Engineer and joined the Shay Murtagh Precast design team in early 2010. Jim is a fully chartered engineer and qualified with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Queens University in Belfast. Jim brings a wealth of civil engineering expertise to the Shay Murtagh team, and has over 12 years of Industry experience, gained with a number of Ireland’s leading building developers and contractors before joining Shay Murtagh Precast Jim’s vast experience and expertise within the many tiers of civil engineering design is vital in ensuring that all our products are designed and produced to the most exacting standards within our industry.


Michael Concannon
– Managing Estimator

Michael has worked in the concrete industry for over ten years. He graduated from Sligo Institute of Technology with a degree in Quantity Surveying. He has extensive knowledge of cost basis for manufacture which gives our Client base the highest quality product at a reasonable and proved cost. Managing a large team he delivers and exceeds the expectations of our wide client base with his understanding and knowledge for off-site solutions and bespoke applications.

William McGovern
– Senior Quantity Surveyor

William is a Senior Quantity Surveyor with Shay Murtagh Precast. He has created a working relationship with many of our Key Accounts. Working with Michael and the other team members he has brought to fruition many key projects from tender stages. William has worked with the company during his college years and is a graduate in Construction Economics and Management from DIT Bolton Street and he also holds a Masters in Management from Smurfit Business School in University College Dublin.

Raymond Smyth
– Sales Manager

Raymond is Sales Manager and manages the sales of projects such as Rainman and Septec both domestic and commercial systems. He also markets and delivers various functions of our smaller tankage range to the domestic, commercial and agricultural sectors. A member of the Shay Murtagh Precast team since 2005 he is a graduate of Business from Dublin Institute of Technology, a team motivator he leads from the front and has an articulated truck license, crane license equipping him with increased knowledge and availability to make each project a success.

Darren Morgan
– Estimator

Darren joined Shay Murtagh Precast in October 2012. Having graduated in 2006 with a Degree in Construction Technology he continued studies and graduated in 2009 with a Degree in Construction Economics and Management from the Dublin Institute of Technology. But these were adjacent his work which began in Australia and followed through to Dublin working as a contracts manager and quantity surveyor on large construction projects. His practical approach and understanding of site work and surveying give our clients support and understanding of their project needs.

Natalie Cooney
– Front Office Administrator

Natalie joined the Shay Murtagh Precast administration team in September 2012. A graduate of Athlone Institute of Technology she holds a Degree in Business Studies. She is the first point of call for Shay Murtagh Precast to all our Sales and Purchases chain, and her steady, professional and confident attributes handle all enquiries with swift precision. Having grown up in a family business she is focused on detail and best delivery to each and every call.


Helen Hughes
– Quality Administrator

Helen began working in Shay Murtagh Precast i as Front Office Administrator. Since then she has graduated into the role of Quality Administrator where her working knowledge of all in house projects has been invaluable and her attention to detail is qualified by her building knowledge. A graduate from Dundalk Institute of Technology with a Degree in Building Surveying she is a key member of the Quality team and works closely with production. She also co-ordinates the Service Department for Septec and Rainman products.

Robert Duncan
– Laboratory Technician

Robert is a Laboratory Technician within the Quality Team in Shay Murtagh Precast He has a Degree in Civil Engineering from Institute of Technology Bolton St., Dublin. He has over ten years experience in the construction industry and his position focuses on our raw materials and its manufacture for incorporation into the finished product. Within the lab he is responsible for cube tests, sand and aggregate analysis, sampling and reporting. These elements are critical to us providing our Clients with a quality assured product.

Ross McKeon
– Quality Department

Ross is attached to the Quality Department within Shay Murtagh Precast He has responsibility in quality control and is the key figure between production and quality teams. He spends time following up on each product, for each project and spot checking with cover testing, lab analysis and individual specification checks. He graduated from Athlone Institute of Technology in Engineering and has over fifteen years experience in the construction industry from technician to quarry management. He has a no nonsense approach that gets the job done.


Jim Buckley
– Financial Controller

Jim is working in company accounts for over 25 years and holds a Batchelor of Commerce from University College Dublin. He has worked with Shay Murtagh‘s for the last fifteen years. He runs an efficient accounts team which produce thorough costings and up to date numbers.

Maria Keoghan
– Customer Service Administrator

Maria works in our Accounts Department and is the Customer Service Administrator. With over 8 years experience in accounts administration she ensures that all our Clients get immediate and satisfactory correspondence on any accounts related queries.

Helena O Connor Wims
– Account Manager

Helena is Supplier Account Manager in Shay Murtagh Precast Her function within the company is an accounts related role with built relationships with our Key Suppliers. She gives clearance on supplier procurement and monitors and clears these accounts for payments. She is a key figure in our Supply Chain and works closely with all departments. She has over twenty years experience in management.


Cyril McDermott
– Transport Manager

Cyril is the Transport Manager and together with Caroline manages the logistics requirements of our Clients. As we have a large fleet, he works closely with Clients, drivers and production to bring on time deliveries to all our projects. With over fifteen years experience in manufacturing including a multinational, he co-ordinates with our customers, manages the loading team, assesses the requirements and organises the delivery to the agreed schedules.

Caroline Coyne
– Transport Co-Ordinator

Caroline is our Transport Co-Ordinator and works alongside Transport Team and Production. She is an integral part of the delivery process in organising documentation such as transport permits, tachograph details, logistics information and accounts. While she works in hand with the Transport Manager she keeps a clear view of costs and monitors all these aspects to give the best value solutions.

Health & Safety

Catherine Smyth
– Integrated Management System Controller

Setting standard within the Concrete Industry is a team event. Catherine heads up this team. Joining the Company in 1992 she has brought to fruition our Quality Management System, our Environmental Management System and finally our Health and Safety Management System. Then integrated them. She coordinates with each department and sets high goals each year to achieve the best possible standards.

David Whyte
– Health & Safety Manager

Group Health and Safety Manager – Graduate with a Bachelor Degree from Athlone Institute of Technology, David adapted the lean aspect to assist in Environmental, Health and Safety. He coordinates our ISO 45001 and ISO 18001 management system. David is a graduate member of IOSH and he is also a qualified Fist Aid, Manual Handling and Fire Warden Instructor. He conducts regular audits and various tool box talks to ensure safety is paramount within the organisation both in Ireland and the UK.
