Current Vacancies

The individual we are seeking will be robust, commercially accountable with both a high level of articulation and numeracy. Ideally you will have at least 3-5 years’ experience with Quantity Surveying background and preferably in the Precast Concrete or Concrete Frame Construction sector.

The person should be experienced in review of contracts for risk allocation and mitigation in pretender and pre-award phase. The person shall also be experienced in the preparation of subcontracts for award to supply chain partners of the Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review of incoming engineering and architectural drawings and enquiries from clients and preparation of material
    and product quantities and labour estimates to assemble an estimate/quotation for project.
  • Liaison with the client and design engineers in the pre-bid review of design and preliminary design development
  • Preparation of the project estimate and processing of documentation for submission to client.
  • Prepare cost plans to enable design teams to produce practical designs for construction projects, which involves
    liaising with architects, engineers and subcontractors
  • Liaison with Estimating Manager and/or Commercial Director on final bid and strategy.
  • Follow up communication with our client/customer to track bid progress and access status of bids.
  • Updating our Jarvis CRM (Customer Relations Management) records with all estimates/tender/ bids.
  • Uploading and maintenance of all information for new projects to company JARVIS ERP system
  • Coordination with site and production teams on project specification information including project procurement
    requirements.
  • Monitoring and tracking of commercial aspects of the project as it passes through design and production stages
    and to track variations.
  • Monitor and keep track of project progress and responsible for the measurement and valuation of variations in
    the work during the contract, for agreement of interim payments and the final account.
  • Actively work with project managers and design team relating to contract variations.
  • Accessing project and product feedback costing metrics from company ERP system.
  • Liaison with accounts department on all commercial aspects of project.
  • Preparing monthly progress payment applications and final account.
  • Reporting to management on the financial progression and costs control of projects.
  • Attending and contribution to internal company work winning ‘pipeline meetings.
  • Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities.

Skills & Qualities

The suitable candidate will hold a Quantity Surveying / Construction Economics degree and/or Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS or SCS). QS will have 3-5 year’s plus experience with a main building contractor. Suitable applicants will have a proven track record and thorough knowledge of Irish and UK construction and or civil engineering sectors.

Note: QS must be capable of providing all core-related QS functions from cost estimating, Bill of Quantity production, tender document preparation, contract administration, claims negotiation, final account settlement, etc. over an extensive portfolio of projects

You will be tasked with working as a hands on Production Operative in the construction, installation and modification of precast concrete structures, on a day to day basis, in a busy manufacturing environment.   Working as part of the production team in the factory, undertaking all duties as directed by their manager/supervisor. You will play a key role in production, storage, cleaning, Health & Safety, Quality and all other tasks as directed by management. This role will involve working to challenging production targets and a good work ethic is required.

Description

You will be tasked with the effective and accurate management of our Maintenance (Plant & Equipment) and Fabrication function’s and will also make a key contribution to the overall management of the Company and take on a real decision making position. This role is responsible for the preparation, scheduling, monitoring and recording of the maintenance & fabrication functions, and ensuring the resources available to these functions are utilised fully and perform as efficiently and effectively as possible, in a busy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance (Plant & Equipment) and Fabrication

  • Playing an integral part of the procurement process within remit, for machine parts, documentation of stock, maintenance of spare parts and develop a robust system to document the stock register.
  • Analyse all plant and equipment within Shay Murtagh Precast, compile a robust asset register list taking into account relevant documentation and regulatory requirements in conjunction with the C.I Team
  • Develop the plant and equipment register into a robust preventative maintenance programme that is operational and functional for all areas of the business
  • Ability to analyse production processes, establish areas of weakness or fault and develop corrective actions to ensure production process are efficient with minimum downtime.
  • Undertake effective planning and prioritisation of workload wherever necessary and that resources are used to optimum effect.  
  • Allocation of manpower within the Plant, Equipment and fabrication teams to be analysed against work requirements and followed up if there is deficits.
  • Proven ability to problem solve in a busy production-based environment.
  • Responsible for the inspection all lifters and lifting equipment supplied to clients for site and SM factories.  This also includes the certification of the equipment and accurate recording on Company ERP system.
  • Scheduling and management of Planned shutdowns for maintenance of any of the plant in conjunction with Supervisors and Management
  • To ensure that all employees within the maintenance & fabrication team, meet and exceed established health & safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the production team in achieving targets while closely monitoring line and machine performance and plan for future maintenance or process improvement.
  • Demonstrates the ability to plan and prioritise workload in order to meet required deadlines and performance standards.

Administration

Description

Shay Murtagh Precast Ltd is a leading manufacturer of concrete products in the UK and Ireland. We specialise in pre-stressed and precast concrete products, including concrete storage tanks, bridge beams, culverts, retaining walls, A-frame buildings, tunnel segments and a range of domestic concrete products for waste water treatment and rainwater harvesting.

Due to our continuing growth and expansion, Shay Murtagh Precast are seeking a Group E H &S Manager to lead our Group Safety Team. This position will primarily be based in our manufacturing facility in Raharney, Co. Westmeath but travel will be required to our other locations and construction sites.

Reporting to: Quality Systems Manager

Purpose: Due to our continuing growth and expansion, we are recruiting a Graduate Quality position in our manufacturing facility. The individual we are seeking should have a QA background and /or education.

Key Responsibilities

The Quality Admin/Document Controller will be tasked with the organisation and supervision of all Quality associated documentation. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Generation of Quality Assurance check sheets, SOPs and Procedures in accordance with the Company Quality System and relevant National Standards.
  • Will assume responsibility for compiling Client Quality Assurance packs and Project Quality Plans as required.
  • Generate project Inspection & Test Plans (ITP’s) and upload to the company’s ERP system (JARVIS)
  • Lead the Document Control function for the company and its accredited laboratory
  • Administer and maintain approved vendor information
  • Administration of quality assurance records in both hard and soft copy formats
  • The candidate will also participate in the Plant and Laboratory Internal Audit Program following appropriate training.
  • Gathering of related metrics, compilation of same and reporting of findings in various dashboard formats.
