Concrete Bridge Beams for Cray Bridge Construction

In 2012 Shay Murtagh Precast was contracted by Raynesway Construction to manufacture and deliver seven no. Y4 prestressed concrete bridge beams for Cray Bridge.

This was for a bridge replacement project for Perth and Kinross Council.

The replacement was considered necessary due to the steel and timber bridges deteriorating condition and the works included a slight widening to allow passage of some larger vehicles.  The beams were 24.7m long and each weighed 26t with an overall width of the completed deck at 6m.

Transportation of the bridge beams were completed by our in house logistics and delivered to schedule.  Installation was done swiftly by the team from Raynesway and beams were lifted into position by a 250 tonne crane.  The bridge was completed four weeks ahead of schedule and officially opened on 16th November 2012.  We congratulate Ally and the Raynesway crew on their successful project.
