Clones Ulster Canal Restoration

A project with Jons Civil Engineering Company Ltd where we partnered through the delivery of culverts to the Clones Ulster Canal Restoration Project in Monaghan.

A complex project consisting of 89 no culverts of varied size & geometries to create a syphon to redirect the drainage beneath the canal.

Main size of culverts are 4.5m x 3.0m high with several units requiring bespoke access opes and second stage cast ins to minimise hydraulic loses. Additionally splayed units were manufactured and with a weight range between 20-30ton per unit.

The Ulster Canal, which runs through counties Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Cavan and Monaghan, was built in the 19th century but was abandoned in the early 1930s.

The overall Upgrade works being undertaken by will see the construction of a 42-berth marina at Clones, with access bridges and amenity area, as well as new walking and cycling trails along the canal between Clones and Clonfad.

A successful collaboration with DBFL Consulting Engineers and Jons Civils and we are looking forward to the completed project images.
