About M50 Motorway Upgrade
The M50 Motorway Upgrade (Phase 2) PPP Contract comprises the design, construction, operation, maintenance and financing of the upgrade.
Approximately 24 km of the existing two lane carriage-way to three lane standard. The provision of auxiliary lanes between the M1 and N3 junction and between the N7 and Scholarstown junctions. The major upgrade of the junctions at the M1, N2 and N3 from grade separated junction type to partially free/free flow interchanges and upgrade works to the junctions at Ballymun, Ballymount, the N81, Scholarstown and Sandyford.
The U bridge beams & slab configuration were used on 15 bridge structures, ranging from U3, U5, U7 U8, U9, U10 & U12. Precast ‘L’ shaped retaining walls varying in height from 2m-5m with a Reckli pattern on front face of walls.
Over 8000m2 of reinforced Soil Hexlock panels & coping units were manufactured using 50% GGBS concrete. Masking panels were manufactured to hide the outside edge of the cast in-situ banks seats. Precast Concrete Box Culverts and UAN portal frame structures were also supplied along with bespoke precast bridge structure 17.
